Cobb County Commission Chairperson

Tim Lee has done a great job. We should keep him on the job as Commission Chairman!
I don’t understand the people who say that Tim Lee should not have negotiated in secrecy with the Braves; the only way this deal could be done was in secrecy.
The bond issue. Yes, it is a large amount. However, it will be paid back over many years with dollars that are worth less every year.
Don’t forget that getting the Braves to Cobb will stimulate business in Cobb resulting in more jobs and more tax revenue. How can people fail to “get that”?

5 Reasons You Shouldn't For Sale By Owner | Keeping Current Matters

In today’s market, with homes selling quickly and prices rising some homeowners might consider trying to sell their home on their own, known in the industry as a For Sale by Owner (FSBO). There are several reasons this might not be a good idea for the vast majority of sellers.

Here are five reasons:

1. There Are Too Many People to Negotiate With

Here is a list of some of the people with whom you must be prepared to negotiate if you decide to For Sale By Owner:

  • The buyer who wants the best deal possible
  • The buyer’s agent who solely represents the best interest of the buyer
  • The buyer’s attorney (in some parts of the country)
  • The home inspection companies which work for the buyer and will almost always find some problems with the house.
  • The appraiser if there is a question of value

2. Exposure to Prospective Purchasers

Time – implications of Einstein’s Theory of Relativity

Time does not run at the same speed everywhere. It runs very slightly slower at the earth’s surface than at 100,000 ft. altitude. Riding in a spacecraft at the speed of light you would not age at all. Time would stand still. That would be boring with nothing happening! Time is not like the normal 3 dimensions. Time is a fourth dimension through which we “fly”, a one way street. The theory of relativity tells us that we are flying through time at the speed of light. Hard to understand, but that is what the calculations tell us. Seems to me that time is going pretty fast, but that fast?  Do you feel it?

Life in Nazi-occupied Norway

German soldiers were everywhere during the occupation. They were roundly despised. In public transportation Norwegians would stand rather than sit next to a German solider. The isles would be packed with standing passengers with empty seats next to the German Soldiers. Then came a new law making it illegal to stand if there was even one empty seat. Violators were subject to arrest. We were compelled to sit next to the hated German Soldiers or face serious consequences.

Atlanta Great Choice !

The Economist: Atlanta among least expensive cities to live

A new report by The Economist that ranks the world’s most expensive cities in the world finds that Atlanta is among the least expensive.

Selling your house.

How To Get The Most Money When Selling Your House

Every homeowner wants to make sure they maximize their financial reward when selling their home. But how do you guarantee that you receive maximum value for your house? Here are two keys to ensuring you get the highest price possible.

1. Price it a LITTLE LOW  —  This may seem counter-intuitive. However, let’s look at this concept for a moment. Many homeowners think that pricing their home a little OVER market value will leave them room for negotiation. In actuality, this just dramatically lessens the demand for your house (see chart below).

Gravitational Waves – verified!

This amazing scientific achievement was announced today, verifying Einsteins theory of relativity. We know gravity as the pull of the Earth; a steady dependable pull causing things to fall. There are events happening is space such as two black holes spinning into one another becoming one. The gravity field (pull) around this kind of event varies greatly with time. These variations are propagating away as a gravitational waves distorting the fabric of space. These waves can be detected with extremely sensitive instruments as now has been done. Here is a paragraph quoted from the announcement.

Engine flush? DON’T DO IT!

I took my 2003 Mazda 6 to a Goodyear dealer for an oil change. It had been running perfectly, burning no oil. They had performed an unwanted engine flush. After that the engine burned oil like crazy. Then the engine failed completely in a very noisy manner. Mark VanWinkle of Blue Moon Auto. located and installed a 2006 engine of similar mileage. The car is back performing as it should A word to the wise: do not ever let anyone perform an engine flush on your car. Engines don’t need to be flushed! Don’t let anyone make money by ruining your car’s engine!
